In an effort to provide housing for its first-year students, the University of St. Thomas invested in Tommie North Hall, a five-story, 210,000-square-foot residence hall on the north end of its campus. To oversee the project, the University hired Opus Design Build L.L.C., who in turn engaged Collins as its full-service electrical partner.
Prior to construction, Collins helped project stakeholders with space planning and budgeting for the hall’s power and lighting systems. Collins also provided load calculations, photometric evaluations, and 3D modeling. During construction, Collins installed all of the hall’s power, lighting, and technology systems, such as data, access control, security cameras, audio-visual and fire alarm. In the fall of 2020, Tommie North Hall welcomed approximately 480 students—right on schedule.
