TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS BUILDING

Inver Hills Community College renovated its 31,800-square-foot Technology & Business Building in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, transforming an aging facility into a modern, technology-rich learning environment for business, IT, and engineering programs. The renovation introduced advanced learning spaces, including IT labs, networking classrooms, a data center lab, and STEM engineering areas designed to support flexible, hands-on education.

Collins served as the electrical contractor, providing electrical construction, lighting and lighting control systems, fire alarm, and technology systems throughout the fully modernized building. Careful coordination was required to integrate lighting within the existing wood structural beams and ceilings while supporting unique fixture and cable pathway installations. A major component of the project included technology and audio-visual systems that support Hy-Flex instruction, advanced collaboration, and hands-on training across multiple disciplines, providing seamless connectivity between classrooms, labs, and instructional spaces.
