Electrical Designer

Electrical designers at Collins are responsible for planning, designing and completing projects as assigned. They work independently and collaboratively with the design team, project estimators, project managers, foremen/forewomen and others to assure projects are constructible and designed on budget and on time.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop designs and collaborate with the design team, estimators and project managers
  • Research and collect data for design options
  • Attend and present at design-related client meetings, provide updates and respond to requests or concerns
  • Perform electrical power and lighting photometric calculations as required
  • Reformulate designs based on unexpected circumstances or changes
  • Communicate with project managers and others about timelines, progress and deviations from schedule or budget
  • Review drawings and research codes to verify compliance with city, state, and county regulations
  • Review submittals to ensure compliance with project scope
  • Manage several projects at one time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in electrical construction/design or electrical engineering from an accredited technical school
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk (Revit MEP, AutoCAD), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • A minimum of two years of experience in electrical design for power distribution systems, lighting, and systems for commercial, industrial, retail, and multi-unit housing construction projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capable of working independently and within a team
  • Excellent organizational, design, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of NEC and local codes
