ELECTRICAL DESIGNER/DRAFTER

Collins seeks an innovative, quality-driven Electrical Designer/Drafter who’s excited about contributing plans and designs for our state-of-the-art electrical construction projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all aspects of design work and drafting independently as needed, in addition to collaborating with the design team, estimators and project managers.
  • Research and collect data for design options, as well as develop designs.
  • Attend design-related meetings with clients to define their needs, provide project status, and respond to requests or concerns – both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform electrical power calculations such as short circuit, voltage drop and load calculations, as required. Perform lighting photometric calculations.
  • Create and reformulate designs based on unexpected circumstances or client changes.
  • Communicate with project managers and other interested parties about timelines, progress and deviations from schedule or budget.
  • Review drawings and research codes to verify compliance with city, state and county regulations.
  • Review submittals to ensure compliance with project scope.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from an accredited technical school or college in Electrical Construction/Design or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Autodesk products (Revit MEP, AutoCAD), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design preferred, including performing calculations for power distribution systems, lighting and special systems for commercial, industrial, retail, multi-family, mixed-use and healthcare facility construction projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills, with ability to handle multiple projects at a time.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and local codes.
  • Experience with fire alarm design considered a plus.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
